Look great for virtual conferences, events, and meetings

ONE | Define your eyes. Your eyes are a focal point on video and deserve the most attention. Enhance the shape of your eyes with mascara, eyeliner, and shadow in colors that complement your natural eye color. Avoid shades with high shimmer.

TWO | Warm lip color is best. For business calls, avoid bright colors and high gloss (light gloss is fine). Look for colors that provide warmth.

THREE | Light, matte powder will reduce shine and provide a consistent look. Concealer under your eyes will make a difference. Less is more when it comes to foundation.

“Lighting is the most important factor in how you appear on-camera. If possible, avoid backlighting and overhead fluorescent lights. I recommend that you face the windows, so the natural light falls on your face, or use a ring light or lamp.” - Mimi Bliss, Bliss Communications

Summertime Strip Down: 8 Steps To A Barely-There Summer Look

Those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer are in full force, and the last thing you want to deal with is a time-consuming makeup routine that ends in a melty face halfway through the day.

We hear you!

Here’s a makeup routine that is as simple and refreshing as a mojito by the pool.

1. Start with a base spray, like this one from Nyx. The lightweight mist gives you a smooth canvas to start on!

2. Switch your heavy powder or liquid foundation for something lighter in the summer months. Try mixing a little of your regular liquid foundation with SPF moisturizer to create your own tinted moisturizer (that will protect your skin!), or try this tinted moisturizer from Aveda. Your skin will feel deliciously breezy!

3. Opt for a light creme blush like this one. It will stay on better and you can use it for your lips, too!

4. Don’t forget to sweep on some bronzer to get that sun-kissed, just-back-from-the-seaside glow.

5. Use a setting spray to lock your look in place.

6. Forget heavy pigments and matte lipstick. Opt for a summery gloss like this minty Aveda  lipgloss in Raspberry Tea, Sunkissed Melon, or Agave Nectar.  Or just smack on some chapstick and call it a day!

7. For the last touch, throw on a little waterproof mascara. After all, you never know when you’ll need to hop in the pool!

8. Keep some oil blotting sheets in your purse all summer. They’re perfect for blotting away excess oil and keep your face looking fresh as a daisy all day long.

Toss your hair up in a pony, grab a popsicle, and you are ready for all of the summer adventures!

If you have never tried the Shampure line, you must! It is a sulfate free cleanser, with all day moisture even protecting skins moisture barrier. All the benefits are great and worth mentioning, but what is most appealing about this line and the candle, is the aroma. It is extremely calming aroma made with 25 pure flower and plant essence. Lavender, Petitgrain and Ylang-yYlang are featured in the candle for up to 50 hours of calm. And who doesn't need that. In fact, that's what we wish for you all, a calm and relaxing holiday season and start to the new year!

Be kind to your hands

In all the 30 years we have been using and carrying the Aveda line of products, I have collected a group of favorites. One of my all time favorites is the Hand Relief Hand Lotion. I love it! Unlike a lot of other lotions, I love the consistency of the lotion. It’s extremely moisturizing, but doesn’t leave you with an oily feel. Not to mention a clean and fresh aroma.

Leave it Aveda to make a good thing even better. Aveda just released their newest product, Hand Relief Night Renewal Serum. It’s designed to work together with the Hand Relief Lotion.

This is a restorative nighttime treatment serum that improves the texture and tone of your hands while you sleep.  Aveda list some of the benefits of the serum as:

Visibly reduces the dark spots | Moisturizers and plumps to smooth fine lines | Andiroba oil protects skin’s natural moisture barrier | moisturizers and plumps to smooth fine lines
— aveda

After looking over the benefits and ingredients we referred to our beyond talented Medical Aesthetician, Angela Vance for her opinion. She made a list of key ingredients that backed up the benefits that Aveda had mentioned.

  • Antioxidants- vitamins C and A for anti-aging and also helps with firming the skin, and aids in dark spots
  • Licorice and Molasses extract- aids in skin lightening for dark or brown spots
  • Natural Plant Extract- for increasing moisture
  • *Lipids-to prevent moisture loss

Thanks to Angela for breaking it down for us.

Another added plus to the serum, it’s aroma. Like the Hand Relief Lotion, it has a fresh citrus aroma, featuring organic oranges, lavandin and eucalyptus. Your hands will smell fantastic, in addition to being smooth and silky.

So all this being said...... I have a new favorite to add to my list. Be kind to your hands!
